Act now to support child refugees around the world

According to the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, “In the first months of 2022, more than 100 million individuals were displaced worldwide as a result of persecution, conflict, violence or human rights violations.”

The conflict in Ukraine, which has created Europe’s largest refugee crisis since World War II, is increasing the number of children displaced both inside and outside their home country. It’s estimated that the war has left more than two-thirds of Ukraine’s children to seek safety in other safer regions of Ukraine or in a new country.

Unfortunately, Ukraine’s refugee crisis is only one of many around the world today. Conflict, disasters, food shortages and the impact of climate change continues to drive millions of children and families across borders every year in search of safety, work and education.

75% of Save the Children’s programming around the world supports children and families displaced from their homes. In recognition of World Refugee Day, we invite you to learn and take action in support of those around the world who have been forced to flee their homes to escape conflict or persecution.
