Childhood Should Not Be About Survival

Children deserve the opportunity to laugh, play, learn, grow and thrive in their childhoods. But instead, millions are being forced to flee their homes, endure hunger and fight to survive.

Together we can make a life-changing difference for children and families here in the United States and around the world. Help us reach our goal of $250,000 by October 15th.

The Impact Your Gift Can Make

When children experience difficult situations, all areas of their lives are impacted. The disruption changes their physical well-being, their mental health and their futures.

Save the Children reaches children in crisis in over 100 countries worldwide, including the United States in more than 200 of the most rural and poverty-stricken communities. We have worked for more than 100 years helping to ensure children have a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm — and the chance for kids to be kids.

We invite you to review the video and briefing we’ve created for you and see the life-changing difference your support is helping to make for children.

Together we can help ensure children have the opportunity to live, play and thrive by providing:

Cash transfers for families to help them access nutritious food and education supplies.

Temporary learning facilities for children living in conflict-affected areas, helping to keep them safe.

Child-friendly spaces for kids that include education resources, activities and games.

Childhoods in Danger

Siblings Hassan and Fikira

In South Sudan, 6-year-old Hassan* and 3-year-old Fikira* fled violence with their parents to seek safety and refuge.

Their father, Ahmed,* told Save the Children that both of his children were very afraid. Fikira was terrified when she saw explosions hitting neighboring homes.

“Fikira panicked and couldn’t breathe,” Ahmed remembers. “There were a lot of injured people.”

Solomia

Originally from Kherson, Ukraine, Solomia* fled with her mom and grandmother when the war broke out and their safety was at risk. Leaving behind her dad and everything the family owned except for a few belongings, they prepared for an uncertain future.

That was two years ago, and Solomia hasn't hugged her dad since then. This family has been torn apart by war and violence.

Faisa

Hunger and drought in Somalia drove Faisa’s* family from their home. Living in a displacement camp where the family is able to have some food is their only hope for survival.

But Faisa dreams about more than just surviving.

"I want to go to school to study and become a doctor who helps people," Faisa says.

These stories are just a few examples that demonstrate what millions of children are facing. Through no fault of their own, around the world children's childhoods are at risk and they are being forced into uncertain futures.

But if we work together, we can help to help create a better — and brighter — future for all children.
